Plumbing is the trade where the argument starts after the work is finished. Was that stain on the ceiling before you opened the wall? Was the shut-off already seized? Did the customer really approve the second visit? ProTechCam exists so the answer is a photograph with a time and a location on it, not two people remembering differently.
The water damage argument
Every plumber has had the call. You replaced a supply line, and a week later there's a claim that the damage under the cabinet is your doing. Without a photo taken before you touched anything, it's your word against theirs, and that argument gets expensive whether you're right or not.
ProTechCam's technician app captures before & after photos with a GPS time stamp burned into the record — the date, the time and the location of the job. It takes the technician a few seconds at the truck and it settles a dispute months later. The photos sync to the office the moment there's signal, so they're not sitting on a phone that gets dropped in a crawl space.
Model and serial, captured at the heater
Warranty claims on water heaters, tankless units, softeners and pumps all turn on the model and serial number, and nobody wants to drive back across town to read a sticker. ProTechCam records the equipment model and serial against the customer's address, so when the unit fails inside its warranty window the information is already in the file — along with the photo of the install and the date it went in.
The next technician who visits that address sees the same record. On a repeat customer, that's the difference between arriving informed and arriving to guess.
Service notes without typing on a phone
Nobody writes a good service note with wet hands in a basement. The app takes voice-to-text service notes — the technician talks, the note lands in the job file, and the office can read what happened without ringing him at supper time.
The signature, and then the money
The technician collects the customer's signature on the phone when the work is done, so approval is attached to the job rather than to a memory. On the office side, ProTechCam's Office Pro plan turns that finished job into an estimate or an invoice, takes a card payment through Stripe, and tracks what's been paid and what hasn't.
The money lands in your own bank account. ProTechCam doesn't take a cut of it.
Clock in, clock out, and the day's route
The app records clock in and out times per job and shows the technician the day's route, so the office knows who is where without a stream of phone calls. For a two-truck shop that's the whole dispatch problem solved; for a bigger crew it's the record behind the timesheet.
What ProTechCam isn't
It doesn't do payroll, marketing automation, call booking or inventory. If you need dispatch boards, memberships and a full CRM, one of the larger operations platforms is the honest answer, and our pricing comparison lists what they cost. ProTechCam covers the job itself and the paperwork that comes off it.
Common questions
Will it work with no signal in a crawl space or basement?
Photos and notes are captured on the phone and sync when the phone has signal again. The technician doesn't have to wait for bars to finish the job.
Can the customer see the job photos?
No. Job photos and video are for your company only. What the customer receives is the estimate, the invoice or the work order you choose to send them.
How much is it for a one-man plumbing shop?
$14 a month for the technician app, with no seat minimum, and a free 14-day trial. Office Pro — estimates, invoices and card payments — is $79 a month and includes two office logins.
Does it capture the water heater serial number?
Yes. Equipment model and serial are recorded against the customer's address, so the record is there when a warranty claim comes up later.
