A standby generator is judged on one morning every few years, and everything your company did in between decides whether it starts. The record of that work — which unit, which transfer switch, what was serviced and when — is the difference between a confident answer and a rummage through paperwork.
The unit and the switch, recorded at the address
ProTechCam records the equipment model and serial against the customer’s address. For a standby installation that means the generator, its serial, and the transfer switch it is wired to, captured once and read back on every visit after.
When a customer rings about a unit that would not start, the office can see what is out there before anyone gets in a truck.
Annual service, visit after visit
Generator work is mostly maintenance, and maintenance only proves itself as a history. Each visit adds to the record at that address, so the oil change, the filter, the load test and the fault that was found two winters ago all sit in one place rather than across four clipboards.
The installation, photographed
The app captures before & after photos with a GPS time stamp — the pad, the exhaust run, the gas connection, the switch as it was wired. Three years on, when somebody asks whether the clearance was right, the answer is a dated photograph.
What was found, said rather than typed
Technicians take voice-to-text service notes on site. Whether the unit attempted to start, whether it ran and shut down, what the controller was showing — spoken once, filed against the job, readable by the office immediately through live office sync.
Estimate to invoice
Office Pro turns a site survey into an estimate, gets it signed, converts the approved estimate into a work order and invoices when the work is finished. Card payments run through Stripe into your own bank account — ProTechCam takes nothing from it.
What ProTechCam isn’t
It does not monitor the generator. It will not tell you a unit failed a weekly exercise — that is the manufacturer’s own remote monitoring, and it is a different product. There is no parts inventory and no payroll either. ProTechCam records the work your technicians did. Our pricing comparison covers the larger platforms if you want those.
Common questions
Does it monitor whether a generator is running?
No. Remote monitoring of the unit itself comes from the manufacturer. ProTechCam is the record of the service and installation work your technicians carried out.
Can we keep a service history per unit?
Yes. Equipment is recorded against the customer’s address, so the generator, the transfer switch and every visit to that property build up in one place.
What does it cost for three technicians?
$42 a month at $14 each, with no seat minimum and a free 14-day trial. Office Pro adds estimates, invoicing and card payments for $79 a month including two office logins.
Do we need the office plan to use the technician app?
No. The $14 technician app works on its own. Office Pro is only needed for estimates, invoices and taking card payments.
